I’ve been writing like a fiend for several months now and my mind’s capability for academic analysis is finally wearing thin, so this weekend saw a tiny escape: me and my ma and a road trip to Amelia Island! Now, I’ve written about Fernandina Beach before, and yes, there were a few shark teeth finds, but more importantly, I got to spend the day wandering around the type of quiet coastal town that’s perfect at the beginning of autumn–quiet, lazy and aesthetically adorable around every corner.
We walked the shore at early low tide, when it’s best to see sea creatures crawling the beach, and hit up 29 South for brunch, whose breakfast deliciousness can only be described in one way: Southern. For seabirds, railroad yards and all the pirate-y goodness I could find in one tiny town, scroll down and click here.
